REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/file photo Acquire Licensing RightsLONDON, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Regulated financial exchanges are talking about how to capitalise on interest in crypto, an industry group said on Tuesday, but a third of respondents to its latest survey said they had no plans to offer the asset class. Exchanges said they were concerned about a lack of uniform regulatory standards, market volatility and the potential for cybersecurity risks relating to crypto assets, a report from the London-based World Federation of Exchanges (WFE) said. Some 38% of the exchanges the WFE surveyed have established, or plan to establish, working groups to focus on crypto-related assets or services. Just over a quarter of respondents said they expect crypto assets to become mainstream in the near future, the WFE said. Mainstream financial institutions have long expressed interest in the potential for blockchain - the technology behind cryptocurrencies - to be used in the process of issuing and trading traditional financial assets.

SNB to launch digital currency pilot - chairman

ZURICH, June 26 (Reuters) - The Swiss National Bank (SNB) is to issue a wholesale central bank digital currency (CBDC) on Switzerland's SIX digital exchange as part of a pilot, the central bank's chairman said at a conference in Zurich on Monday. As opposed to wholesale CBDCs which use tokenised securities, the SNB has long been cautious about the use of public, or retail, CBDCs. Jordan said he was concerned about potential risks retail CBDCs could have for the financial system, while the use of them was more difficult to control. "We do not exclude that we will never introduce retail [CBDCs] but nevertheless we are a little bit prudent at the moment," he said. "It is the one way that retail households can hold central bank money," she said.

Swiss Six exchange opens probe into Clariant whistleblower case
  + stars: | 2023-01-12 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +1 min
BERLIN, Jan 12 (Reuters) - Switzerland's Six stock exchange on Thursday opened an investigation into Clariant (CLN.S) over the possible disclosure of price-sensitive information, following whistleblowers' allegations that some staff had manipulated accounts. A spokesperson for the specialty chemical company said the investigation related to a delay in publishing its 2021 results, due to an investigation into the accounting of some provisions and accruals. In February, Clariant delayed the release of 2021 results as independent advisors looked into the allegations that some staff manipulated accounts in 2020 and 2021 to help meet financial targets. In April that investigation concluded that there had been no impact on sales and cash numbers previously reported, it said. Appearing for the first time, England were favourites to win the 1950 World Cup in Brazil while the Americans were a semi-professional squad. England, featuring future World Cup winning manager Alf Ramsey in defence, dominated but lost to Joey Gaetjens' first-half header. It would be another 44 years before the U.S. would win another match at the World Cup. A Czech team who had reached the 2004 European Championship final were expected to go deep in the World Cup and opened with a 3-0 demolition of the United States, while Ghana, making their World Cup debut, had already lost to Italy. Wales did not appear in the World Cup again until Monday's 1-1 draw with the United States.
